Spring Forward with These Plumbing Tips

Have you started your spring cleaning yet?  Why not start with your plumbing system!  Here are a few spring cleaning tips to help you get your plumbing system in shape for warmer days this weekend.

Spring Plumbing Tips:

  • Install a Sump Pump - April showers bring May flowers!  Is your home ready for spring rains?  Flooding is a common and frustrating problem for many homeowners.  By installing a sump pump, you can help keep water out of your basement and prevent water damage.
  • Get a Drain Strainer - If you don't already own one, this spring is the perfect time to invest in a drain strainer.  This inexpensive plumbing part helps prevent clogged drains by keeping hair, soap, and food particles out of your plumbing system.
  • Correct Any Leaks - Don't delay fixing leaky faucets and dripping pipes. Not only are they a frustrating home problem, they can also cause water damage if left on their own.  
  • Clean Your Washing Machine - Clean the lint trap in your washing machine!  This well help improve your washing machine drainage.
  • Check Outdoor Hoses - It has a been a particularly cold and snowy winter.  Now that it's time to start thinking about caring for your lawn, it's also time to check your outdoor hoses and hose bibs.  Check for cracks and if you experience any problems, give us a call.
