Steps to Take:
- Remove Your Phone - Take your phone out of the toilet as soon as possible.
- Turn It Off - Leaving your phone on can cause it to short circuit. Turn your phone off and assume it is waterlogged, whether or not the phone is still on.
- Inspect Your Phone - Lay your phone on paper towels or soft cloths. Remove the battery cover to find out if the phone is water damaged. Check the corner near the batter. If there is a white square or circle, your phone is not water damaged. If the square is pink or red, your phone has water damage.
- Save Your SIM - Your SIM card is the part of your phone that stores all of your information - including your photos, contacts, and other valuable data. Take the card and pat it dry.
- Dry Your Phone - Now you need to remove the water from your phone. One of the most common ways to do this is to use a substance that has a high affinity for moisture - like rice! Put your phone in a bowl of rice and move it's position every hour to help remove all of the water.
- Test Your Phone - After you have waited at least 24 hours for your phone to dry, you can put the battery back into your phone and attempt to turn it on.
